R.A. Hohendorf, O.D.

Dr. Hohendorf has been in private practice in the Grand Rapids area since 1975 and has always had an interest in Visual Therapy. He believes we are born with eyesight but we learn to understand what we see with experience. Although normal eyesight matures very early at age 6 months, vision is the last sensory system to fully mature and can take a lifetime of development. Because not all eyes/brains develop on the same schedule and in the same way, late or improper development can occur and be helped. That is the basis of visual therapy.

Dr. Hohendorf is a graduate of Illinois College of Optometry. Over the years Dr. Hohendorf began moving beyond basic eye exams/eye glass care and found great satisfaction in helping others improve and preserve their vision. He co-founded the VSC in Jan. of 2004. Currently, Dr. Hohendorf devotes his office time to visual therapy-testing and treatment-as well as advising, conferring and consulting with other therapists. He is an international lecturer in this field and is continuing his education in the use of lenses, prisms, and color in therapy.
